Reproduction of Henri Matisse’s Carmelina (1903) Executed by Emily Clanton with various mixtures of plant dyes in water (April 2014) by Emily Clanton is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. Based on a work at http://gvty.co/i/NvIooQ.
This piece was executed over the course of a week during the middle of April 2014. It took a bit of time because I collected and boiled various plant materials to use for this reproduction including artichoke, beet, red cabbage, coffee, red onion and yellow onion. In order to push the contrast I incorporated a small amount of sumi ink, blue India Ink, tumeric and paprika (finely ground spices in water).
